The Yamanote Line 5 car set is a superb replica of the prototype. As to be expected of Kato, the model runs very smoothly and quietly in both directions at all speed ranges. The differential bidirectional lighting of the locos (cars 1 & 5) is a nice touch.
The only limitations of this set are: The locomotive lighting tends to be too dim unless the train is run at high speeds. The use of bright LEDs would have been better than using bulbs. Also, the set would be exquisite if the cars all had factory installed interior lighting.
