The Series M250 freigh train, named "Super-Railcargo," made its debut in March, 2004, on Takaido Main, a logistic
artery in Japan. As the first multi-motored container express train for JR Freight, the Series M250 makes its
daily trip between Tokyo and Osaka in approximately 6 hours and 10 minutes. The train hauls a total of 28 U54A
31-foot containers. These containers display a paint scheme, in a 12-car configuration, dedicated to
Sagawa Kyubin, a major parcel forwarder in Japan.
It is important to note that the Series M250 was developed to help decrease the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere
due to high-speed cargo transports. Its use is expected to annually reduce CO2 emissions by some 14,000 metric tons.
