The EF210-100 JR Freight locomotive was first manufactured in the year 2000 to succeed the EF210-0 with modifications to the braking unit and other equipment. Changes were also made in the outward appearance of the locomotive. It was newly equipped with a large air filter on both body sides, while the "ECO POWER " with a Japanese character meaning "Mighty boy" logo was enhanced and shifted to the center of the locomotive's flanks.
