The Taki 1900 made its debut in 1964 as a tank car dedicated to cement transport. The good design of integrating the tank
and frame in one body, and thus lessening its weight, has created such a superb function that it is now regarded as a
standard for tank cars in Japan. The Taki 1900 allowed for the transport of 40 metric tons of cement for the first time
and is now owned by private companies in the greatest number. During its manufacturing period through 1981, many
variations have been produced, depending on the specifications of different manufacturers and owner companies.
The prototype for this N scale model is owned by Hitachi Cement and used on the Joban line to carry cement between
Hitachi, Arakawa-oki and Sumidagawa.
